TERROS 40th Anniversary
Since 1969, TERROS has been touching people’s lives in the community. Founded by a group of young people dedicated to helping others struggling with substance abuse crises, TERROS was the Phoenix area’s first substance abuse treatment program. Today, TERROS touches over 25,000 lives a year. Many people have shared stories of how they have been helped by TERROS, and you are invited to share your story as well.
Here is a story we have already received:
Hi, I was looking for something totally unrelated to TERROS, but your name came up and I was simply AMAZED! I am from Phoenix and remember when TERROS first started. Back then, 1970, you were located in an old house down on Roosevelt, and everyone working there was a volunteer. Why am I writing? To thank you for saving my best friends life back then. She had taken a huge overdose of what was known then as M&M Reds. I went to her house to see her, and she was asleep. Her husband finally said something to me about how many pills she had taken. He was so messed up, he was no use to me getting her loaded into the car. Oh, Dead weight is HEAVY!. It took me 30 minutes to drag her to my car and put her in, and I brought her to YOU. I vividly remember the ice pack with no response. That is when you had her transported to Good Samaritan Hospital. Your not reporting/no police and your fast actions saved her life. Although I haven’t seen her in several years, I do know that she is now 58 and
happily married (to someone else). THANK YOU!
